Price the job. Then find out what it actually made.
A complete estimating and job-costing workbook for damp, mould and waterproofing contractors. Put in your day rates once. Enter the quantities. It gives you the cost, the price, the margin and the number of days — then tracks what each job really returned when the invoice went out.
Most damp jobs are priced from memory
A number that felt about right last time. No real view of what the work costs, what it leaves, or how long it will actually take — and no record afterwards of whether it worked.
The margin disappears
Materials, waste and a second pair of hands get absorbed into a round number. The job gets done, the money is not there at the end of it.
The days get underestimated
Three days quoted, five days on site. Every extra day is labour you priced for once and paid for twice.
Nobody checks afterwards
The invoice goes out and the job is forgotten. Without the comparison, the same mistake gets priced into the next twenty quotes.
Five tabs, one job
Set it up once, then price and track every job in the same file.
Your rates, entered once
Technician and labourer day rates, target margins, standard discount, materials markup and the minimum job value below which you will not turn out. Everything else in the workbook reads from here.
Price the work
Enter the square metres against the treatments the property needs. Recommended price, discounted price, cost, margin and days calculate as you type. Sundries and site costs sit on the same sheet.
Cost a membrane system properly
Enter wall and floor areas, junction and perimeter lengths, sumps and your waste allowance. Add your supplier’s pack prices and it works out quantities, packs required and total material cost — then feeds it straight into the estimate.
The job on one page
Tick the lines the job needs and they pull through automatically: total cost, total days, quoted price, price after discount and estimated margin. Override the day estimate with your own judgement where it differs.
What it actually made
One row per job. Enter what you invoiced and what it cost, and margin, quote-versus-actual slippage and a red-amber-green status work themselves out against your own review and sign-off floors. Running totals sit at the top.
Anything the list does not cover
A dedicated section where you type the description, your material and labour cost and your day estimate, and it prices at your target margin like every other line. Built for specifications that do not fit a standard rate.
It knows how long the work takes
Behind the calculator sits a day-planning engine — a volume table for every treatment, running from one square metre to five hundred. It works out how many days the job takes at that volume and whether it needs a technician alone or a labourer alongside, then prices the labour from your day rates. Change your rates and every price in the workbook moves with them.

The work it covers
Every line set up with its own materials, waste, labour and day estimate.
Every line carries a plain-English description of the treatment you can lift straight into a quote. Lines can be renamed, removed or added to suit the work you take on.
Your rates. Your prices.
This is a calculator, not a price list. The figures it opens with are worked examples so you can see how the sheet behaves. You replace them with your own day rates, material costs, markup and target margin, and the prices it produces are calculated from your numbers and your business.
The Federation of Damp does not set, recommend or publish prices for damp work, and no supplier’s price list is included. What you charge, and what you pay for materials, are entirely your own commercial decisions.
Sole traders and small firms
Stop pricing from memory. Get a consistent number you can defend, and a record of what each job returned.
Growing contractors
Give every surveyor the same pricing logic, so quotes do not swing depending on who went out to the property.
Surveyors moving into pricing
Newly certified and quoting your own work for the first time? Start from a structure that already accounts for what jobs cost.
