Yes. Searching and sending an enquiry is free, with no obligation to book. Surveys, reports and remedial work may be chargeable. Agree the price and scope with the business before instructing it.

Who receives my contact details?

The businesses you select receive your enquiry and contact details so they can respond. Choose between one and five recipients. Read our Privacy Policy for information about how FOD handles your data.

I am buying a property. Which option should I choose?

Choose “Homebuyer damp survey”. If you specifically need an independent report, choose “Independent damp survey / report”. Before booking for a mortgage or legal transaction, confirm your lender or solicitor's requirements and whether they will accept the proposed surveyor and report.

What if I do not know which specialist I need?

Select “Not sure — initial assessment” and describe what you can see, where it occurs and how long it has been happening. The specialist can discuss whether their service is suitable before you commit.

What if there are no suitable results?

Check that you entered the property's full UK postcode and the right service. You can also browse the specialist register. Results are based on listed locations within 60 miles; each business must confirm whether it covers your property and has availability.

Does sending an enquiry book a visit?

No. It asks your chosen businesses to contact you. Response times and availability vary. Any appointment or contract is agreed directly with the business you appoint.
